Lake Martin Dock Company began building docks over 30 years ago and was the first company fully committed to dock and marine construction in the Lake Martin area. The company has evolved greatly since then. Today, we are a full service marine construction company that has the capability to build year round. We offer lift installation, dock construction, seawall construction and an array of other dock and marine related services.

FIELD OPERATIONS

Role Description:

LMDC’s Field Operations team is comprised of several business lines and roles that work collectively to ensure a quality foundation is built for every dock we build for our customers. These business lines include Yard to manage the equipment and inventory, Barge to set poles and Service to install lifts, make repairs and provide regular maintenance.  Both the Barge and Service teams include 3 man crews: Barge team roles are Deck Hand, Pole Setter and Operator and Service team roles are Service Technician and Service Lead. Each role includes multiple levels based on experience and expertise with everyone working through the structure to ensure a LMDC foundation of knowledge and skill is confirmed. The primary duties involve working on a barge or boat, in/on/around a freshwater lake, utilizing excavators, personal watercraft and materials for marine construction purposes year-round. Lake Martin’s shoreline is surrounded by hills which require our teams to physically be able to carry tools and supplies to/from the delivery vessel and the job site which may include steep inclines or rocky terrain.

DUTIES, ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate LMDC Core Values
  • Work collaboratively within the field team and across all LMDC Teams
  • Physical abilities to wear a toolbelt, load/unload and carry materials on uneven/steep terrain, and work on/in/around fresh water
  • Timely and accurate completion of all assigned tasks associated with Barge & Service Leads or supervisor
  • Ensures good housekeeping in and around all working areas at LMDC
  • Backup next level role as needed
  • Operating company equipment as trained and directed – boats, heavy machinery, etc.
  • Loading building materials – poles, lifts, other building materials
  • Assist Operator/Lead to identify problems with heavy/small equipment and make proper repairs as needed

EXPERIENCE

Requirements for all LMDC Field Team members:

  • Successfully complete pre-employment screening to include motor vehicle, criminal and substance
  • Successfully complete a 90-day probationary period
  • General knowledge of building construction
  • General knowledge of dock drawings
  • General mechanical experience
  • Valid Alabama Driver’s license

Preferences:

  • Alabama Boater’s license
  • Heavy equipment experience

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Aptitude and attitude to learn new skills
  • Strong commitment to a safe, team-oriented culture
  • Ability to read a tape and use a level
  • Ability to hook up, load and trailer loads
  • General knowledge of tying off boats, barges, floating docks
  • Ability to work periodic weekends as requested
  • Dependable transportation to get to/from work on time
  • Good communication skills – verbal and non-verbal based upon role

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to work outdoors year-round
  • Able to climb ladders
  • Able to lift up to 80 pounds
  • Comfortable working at heights
  • Comfortable working on and around fresh water

WORK HOUR AND ENVIRONMENT

  • Typical work hours are 6:30am to 3:30pm
  • Opportunities for some overtime
  • Work is conducted outside in natural terrain, on/around freshwater, year round
  • W-2 based employment with federal and state tax withholdings

Job Type: Full-time and W-2

Compensation:

  • Starting hourly rate – $17.00/hour based on knowledge, experience, attitude and reviewed at the successful completion of the 90-day probationary period
