EQUIPMENT OPERATOR
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
LMDC’s Equipment Operator will ensure timely and accurate execution of assigned equipment and barge tasks with high quality. Oversees the maintenance of equipment associated with barge work and ensures good housekeeping in and around all working areas. The primary duties involve working on a barge on and in a freshwater lake utilizing excavators and boats for marine construction purposes.
DUTIES, ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Crew Leader: Directing work activities, managing the safety and work environment of the barge crew on the job site per company policy and supervisor direction.
- As An Individual Contributor:
- Affirm work orders for accuracy
- Load and secure equipment from delivery vehicle to barge
- Ensure all equipment is in good working order and properly maintained
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requirements:
- Drug screen required
- High school diploma or GED
- Three years of operating equipment, including heavy equipment, and driving a dump truck or other appropriate transferable skills
- General Mechanical experience
- Valid driver’s license
Preferences:
- State of Alabama Vessel license
- CDL license
- General construction knowledge
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES;
- Strong commitment to a safe, team-oriented culture
- Ability to drive an excavator
- Ability to identify problems with heavy/small equipment and make proper repairs as needed
- Ability to work independently and manage a crew to meet delivery requirements defined by supervisor
- Ability to work periodic weekends as requested
- Dependable transportation to get to/from work on time
- Good communication skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Physically able to work outdoors and climb ladders
- Ability to lift up to 80 pounds
- Comfortable working at heights
- Comfortable working in and around fresh water
WORK HOUR AND ENVIRONMENT
- Typical work hours are 6:30am to 3:30pm with overtime available
- Work is conducted on a barge on/in freshwater lakes year-round
- W-2 based employment with federal and state tax withholdings
