Lake Martin Dock Company began building docks 34 years ago and was the first company fully committed to dock and marine construction in the Lake Martin area. The company has evolved greatly since then. Today, we are a full service marine construction company that has the capability to build year round. We offer lift installation, dock construction, seawall construction and an array of other dock and marine related services.

Meet Our Team

David McGirt

Owner

David and Jodie McGirt purchased Lake Martin Dock Company in 2016 where David is the CEO. He brings more than 20 years of experience designing, building and operating complex and prodigious data center environments as well as optical/IP networks and network infrastructures around the world. In the last 7 years of ownership David has expanded the business to support 3 times more customers and looks forward to helping you build your waterfront oasis. He is passionate about bringing a level of quality and professionalism to your lakefront dreams that is expected but rarely fulfilled in this market.

David is a graduate of Auburn University, active Kowaliga Volunteer Firefighter/fire fighter trainer and long-time residents of Lake Martin. When David is not leading LMDC or volunteering in the community he enjoys flying.

Jodie McGirt

Owner

Jodie and David McGirt purchased Lake Martin Dock Company in 2016 and Jodie and recently joined the LMDC team full time where she will utilize her more than 30 years of global operations and customer management experience in clinical research to support the continued growth and ongoing success of LMDC in serving our customers as the premier and trusted marine and shoreline construction partner on Lake Martin.

Jodie is passionate about quality, efficiency and customer engagement and will ensure that our customers continue to have the best experience as they plan, build and enjoy their lake front oasis that we design and build with you.

Dave Gray

Operations

Dave Gray joined Lake Martin Dock Company in 2015 as a key leader who coordinates and supports the LMDC field service crew. With more than 35 years of experience in residential and lakeshore construction Dave brings expertise and passion to your marine construction project. Dave prioritizes safety, efficiency and customer service, striving to provide solutions to complex problems. He is not only skilled in maintenance, repairs, and structural modifications but also has a keen eye for details and quality assurance.

Dave’s lifelong experience in all aspects of boating life, personally and professionally, is invaluable to LMDC customers in providing the best marine service in the Southeast.

Dave graduated from the University of Alabama and enjoys spending time with his three wonderful children. When not supporting you in your installation and service needs you will find him with his kids, in the woods or on the water as the captain of offshore fishing expeditions.

Sergio Guerra

Quality Control / Site Supervisor

In 2024, Sergio joined the LMDC team, performing quality control and site management. Bringing more than 10 years marine construction experience, Sergio adds great value to the LMDC team. Sergio brings a lot of knowledge and abilities in techniques, problem-solving, safety, and regulatory compliance from his more than 10 years of experience in marine building. His knowledge is crucial for organizing, carrying out, and finishing marine construction projects safely while maintaining environmental sustainability and worker safety.  

In both personal and professional relationships, Sergio’s values—honesty, openness, respect, accountability, compassion, growth, community, and equality—are crucial for building credibility and integrity.  

Outside of work, Sergio enjoys playing soccer, cooking, and spending time with his family. Sergio has always had a strong faith and is passionate about serving his Savior. For the previous 10 years, he has served as a pastor, helping, and guiding the Spanish-speaking community spiritually. In his free time, Sergio owns and runs Guerra Construction. Sergio loves to help others so much over 10 years ago he decided to open his own business, Guerra construction. His work motto is “great things in business are never done by one person. They’re done by a team of people.”  

Ronnie Knight

Project Manager

Ronnie Knight brings 15 years of diverse expertise, spanning geotechnical testing, construction materials, environmental consulting, and mobility solutions leadership. His experience managing a team of technicians to provide life-changing accessibility solutions reflects his dedication to excellence and empowering others.

Ronnie’s values seamlessly align with LMDC’s culture. His unwavering commitment, pursuit of clear goals, and ownership of exceptional outcomes fuel his desire to provide exceptional customer service through out the life of every project.

Beyond work, Ronnie’s faith shapes his character. A bi-vocational pastor for over 25 years, he holds degrees in Theology and served as a church planter with his family. He embodies his values through service, both as a former Alabama National Guardsman and current Training Officer for the Kowaliga Volunteer Fire Department.

Ronnie’s passion resides in family and faith. Outside of work and service, he cherishes time with loved ones, enjoys tending to his chickens, and tackles the ever-present “honey-do” list.

Jacob Weldon

Service

Jacob Weldon joined Lake Martin Dock Company in 2021, embarking on his journey as a Service Technician. Over the years, his dedication and expertise have led him to oversee the LMDC Service Department. With a strong background in residential construction, Jacob brings a wealth of knowledge to his role, including five years of experience, three of which are marine focused within the LMDC environment. Jacob’s commitment to efficiency and quality is evident in his work. He strives to deliver products and solutions that not only meet but exceed customer expectations, ensuring durability and longevity. His hands-on approach and attention to detail have made him an asset to the LMDC team.

Outside of his professional life, Jacob is an avid outdoorsman, often found hunting or fishing in his spare time. He values the camaraderie of friends and enjoys exploring the natural beauty of the Lake Martin area. Additionally, Jacob is an enthusiast of DIY projects and woodworking, dedicating his free time to crafting unique pieces for his home and friends.

Jacob’s passion for the outdoors and his professional expertise makes him a key member of Lake Martin Dock Company, contributing significantly to its success and reputation in the marine construction industry.

Sandra Chambers

Office

Sandra Chambers has more than 25 years’ experience in office administrations, across multiple disciplines of business, and joined the Lake Martin Dock Company team in 2015 to run and manage our back-office activities. Sandra efficiently and effectively leads the Accounts payable, Accounts receivable, Human Resources and Payroll Departments for LMDC with consistency and accuracy. Her meticulous care to these activities ensures the Lake Martin Dock Company team is taken care of with these functions and navigates you through the lifecycle of your shoreline project from permitting through project completion.

Sandra is a long time Lake Martin area resident who lives in Alexander City with her husband and their two dogs. Her family connection to Lake Martin starts back in 1923 with her grandfather who worked on the construction crew that cleared the land to build Martin Dam. As a child she enjoyed the beauty and opportunities on the lake with her family boating, camping and fishing. She is an adventure-seeker and nature-lover who loves to explore the outdoors. She enjoys being with family and friends, spending time on the lake, watching Auburn football and going to the beach. Whether it’s watching a beautiful sunset on Lake Martin while camping or riding a bike with friends Sandra is at home in the Lake Martin Community.

Tori Cardwell

Office

Tori Cardwell joined Lake Martin Dock Company in 2022 as an Assistant Office Manager. She brings more than 20 years of customer relations experience, across multiple business lines, where she strived to deliver exceptional customer/patient satisfaction.

Tori believes quality, delivery and customer service, partnered with hard work and dedication is the key to a successful business. She stands by her commitment to LMDC to meet and exceed the expectation of every LMDC customer and believes it is also the commitment of the entire LMDC family, from the Barge Crew to the Owners, to do the same. Through providing the best in the class service by exemplifying punctuality, exceptional craftmanship, responsiveness, efficiency, personnel skill set, and experience, and in many other ways as well; Tori believes that LMDC can accomplish this task and make each and every customer feel as if LMDC is holding their hand every step of the way.

Tori understands that the residents of Lake Martin aren’t just building homes, seawalls, docks, and boat houses but rather building memories. Memories that will last a lifetime. She stands behind her core values and personal strengths to support you while building those memories through her dedicated performance at LMDC.

Tori loves her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and is devoted to her family. In her free time she enjoys exercising, hunting and fishing, and loves “LAKE DAYS”. Here at Lake Martin Dock Company, Tori takes pride in delivering exceptional customer service associated with the day-to-day business of LMDC.

Daniel Jackson

Sales & Marketing

Daniel Jackson is the Sales and Marketing Manager for Lake Martin Dock Company and has been involved in marine construction for more than 13 years. Prior to LMDC, Daniel worked in commercial plumbing and HVAC, where he created valve diagrams and water pipe layouts for large commercial mechanical rooms. Working directly under Ivey Mechanical, he was responsible for the location, marking, and diagramming of plumbing and HVAC layouts for the Human Resources Center of Excellence at Fort Knox, an over 850,000-square-foot facility of the United States Army.

Daniel attended Kennesaw State University studying marketing. Prior to his move into commercial construction Daniel had a 10-year career in Graphic Design & Marketing, where he created successful advertising campaigns and a variety of designs for all media types. He is a driven design and salesman that is passionate about customer engagement, service quality, and providing his customers the best possible solutions.

When Daniel is not at the office you will find him spending quality time with his wife and kids, on the lake, up in a tree stand or playing guitar in the local music venues.

Patrick West

Sales & Estimates

Patrick West joined the Lake Martin Dock Company team in 2016 as our lead designer and estimator. As an Industrial Designer, Patrick utilizes his education and knowledge to translate your waterfront vision into a tailored design, combining art and engineering, to make a product that you and your family will use every day to facilitate the enjoyment of your lakefront oasis. Patrick strives to be readily available to translate your ideas into practical yet creative designs for your outdoor living space. Patrick is available to answer your questions and work through designs to get the best solution for your dock.

Patrick graduated from Auburn University and currently calls The Plains home. He has been a regular on Lake Martin since 1998, where he enjoys spending time with his family and friends. When he is not at the lake, Patrick enjoys going to Auburn sporting events and playing golf, despite the fact that he professes to be terrible at it.

Brad Easterwood

Marketing / Videographer

Brad Easterwood joined the Lake Martin Dock Company team in 2020 as our Marketing Assistant/Videographer. Prior to LMDC, Brad worked at Lake Broadcasting, Inc. for 10 years where he was Lead Producer of local television shows like The Front Porch and Gospel Heritage Video. In addition, he would direct, shoot, and edit TV commercials for advertisers on the programs.

Brad graduated from Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida and his focus for LMDC is to extend the vision to create the perfect outdoor oasis here on Lake Martin.

When Brad is not at the office, you can find him spending quality time with his wife and kids, fishing or on a mower cutting grass.

Brian Cox

Sales & Estimates

Brian Cox is an essential member of the Lake Martin Dock Company, contributing his expertise to the Sales and Estimates team. With a profound dedication to customer satisfaction, Brian plays a vital role in transforming client visions into tangible dock solutions. His meticulous attention to detail and commitment to excellence ensure that each project meets the high standards set by LMDC.

Beyond the professional realm, Brian is a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and an active member of Beulah Baptist Church in Dadeville, Alabama. As a loving husband and a proud father of three children, family values are at the core of his life. Brian enjoys working on his house and land, coaching his children’s sports teams, and indulging in his passions for hunting, fishing, and spending as much time as possible on the lake.

Incorporating his personal touch, Brian Cox brings a unique perspective to the LMDC family, enriching the customer experience and contributing to the success of every dock project.
